Quadsmas!
The winter solstice brings the long-awaited return of our rich and ridiculously tasty Darkest Night Quad (DNQ). We’ll be pouring the ’23, ’24, and brand-new ’25 editions—plus our beloved barrel-aged version. If Belgian beers are your thing, Quadsmas is a celebration you won’t want to miss.
Why are Belgian Quads such a big deal? Let us tell you.
Belgian Quadrupels (or “Quads”) are the deep, contemplative giants of the monastic brewing world. Think huge notes of dark fruit, fig, raisin, and caramelized sugar; warming complexity; and a silky richness that is never cloying. These beers are traditionally brewed in small quantities, meant for sharing, cellaring, and savoring—often around winter holidays.
Quads are prized because they show what happens when simple ingredients meet patient, old-world technique: long boils, expressive Belgian yeast strains, careful fermentation, and time. The result is a beer that evolves year to year, gaining layers of flavor and character as it ages. It’s why side-by-side verticals are such a treat, and why this style holds a near-mythic status among Belgian beer lovers.
This year’s Quadsmas lets you taste that evolution for yourself, all in one night - or for as long as the kegs of cellared quads last!

Brewer’s Choice Release Event at lucky envelope brewing
We’re opening the vault! Join us for Brewer’s Choice, featuring three hand-selected barrel-aged beers from our archive. These rare gems aren’t part of our regular lineup, so it’s a perfect chance to sip something truly special. Limited release and only available on tap.
Beer Releases:
Lemon Piquette Coolship Sour (6.0% ABV)
We were inspired by the piquette of the wine world to create our own piquette-style coolship sour with Sicilian lemon that was tasting delicious after its first use. Our coolship sour blonde base aged in second-use gin and neutral oak barrels for 12-18 months and blended into stainless on Sicilian Lemon puree for an additional 9 months. The resulting sour beer is tart and is like sitting in a summery field with notes of lemon peel, wildflowers, dandelion, and light hints of juniper and cedar.
Amarone Cask-Aged Imperial Stout (12.0% ABV)
Our Imperial Stout aged in Amarone wine casks, a specialty Italian dessert wine made from dried grapes and concentrated must. Deep roasted malt meets rich layers of plum, chocolate, and syrupy dark fruit, finishing with a touch of oak.
Gin Barrel-Aged Blonde Sour (6.0% ABV)
Our gin barrels #39 and #40 were filled with our base farmhouse beer to funkify for over two years on our spontaneous house culture. We further conditioned the beer in stainless for another 18 months to let the flavors blend together. The resulting beer is pleasantly tart with a touch of brett character. We taste notes of overripe pineapple, herbal bitters, and a hint of leather.

Obec Brewing
Tues, Sept 23
6:30-8:30 pm
Join Dr. Kate Starbird, Seattle Stand Up for Science , and Obec Brewing for an evening where science, technology, and advocacy intersect. Dr. Starbird will take us on a journey through the evolution of human–computer interaction — from the early days of post–World War II science policy to today’s world of personal devices, AI, and always-on connectivity. Think: from the early seeds of the internet, to the invention of the computer mouse, to the promise (and potential peril) of human-AI interaction. Throughout, she will demonstrate the connection between U.S. government funding of science and the technologies and innovations that have fed our economy and (re)shaped our lives.
Ultimately, Dr. Starbird will highlight why public investment in research and diverse voices in computing and informatics are more essential than ever, especially at a time when those investments are under threat. And you won’t just leave inspired — Seattle’s Stand Up for Science team will be on hand with easy, actionable ways to contact your representatives and stand up for science.
Kate Starbird is a Professor at the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington (UW) and co-founder of the UW Center for an Informed Public (CIP).
Obec Brewing welcomes dogs of any age, but humans must be 21+. Beer, wine, and NA options available; food trucks onsite or nearby.

Please don't forget to invite your friends, family and colleagues if they’re as ready as you are to stand up and fight back for science this summer and beyond.
