Join Stand Up for Science Seattle for a teach-in event with Dr. Lyda Harris, a marine biologist who has spent more than a decade studying and tackling marine debris and plastic pollution–from local waters in Washington to coastal communities in Baja Mexico. She has led research projects, organized cleanup efforts, and built partnerships that connect science with communities to keep plastic out of the ocean. Today, she brings that same passion to her work in corporate and municipal sustainability, focusing on upstream solutions that prevent plastic from becoming marine pollution in the first place.
Dr. Harris earned her PhD in Biology at the University of Washington, with a concentration in Public Policy at the Evans School. Her leadership has been recognized with Boeing’s Environmental and Sustainability Leadership Award and the Starbucks OL Reign Legend Award for Environmental Leadership.
